52 | Ignitemag.ca | ignite | September | October 2018 CELEBRATE Location: JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa, Minett, Ont. Submitted by: Victor Pianosi, Flip Events, Toronto Since the event fell on Robbie Burns Day, we suggested it be a ceilidh—a tradi- tional Scottish celebration with folk music, singing and dancing. The colour red was extremely prominent in all the design aspects. The room was bathed in deep red lighting and red tartan tablecloths complimented the red water goblets. Natural centrepieces featuring Scottish thistle and red flowers were nestled into bases of wood branches. Whimsical six-foot tall red feather-ball trees were scattered throughout the room. A bagpiper piped guests into the dining room and a traditional Scottish fiddle band performed after dinner with a troupe of young Scottish Highland step dancers. Guests loved the evening and our client was over the moon. CEILIDH-THEMED TECH COMPANY CONFERENCE GALA TECH COMPANY RETREAT Location: Indura Resort, Honduras Submitted by: Sean Hoff, Moniker, Toronto PlexCon: "Survivor" Honduras was a company retreat we planned in October 2017 for a tech company based out of California. The entire theme was crafted from scratch, around a complex "Survivor" theme based on the TV series. Each morning began with a 'Tree Mail' that introduced challenges and puzzles that the teams had to solve through- out the day. At some point in the afternoon, we would blow a conch shell to call everyone to assemble for that day's "Immunity Idol Challenge" in which we hosted complex games utilizing the entire property for various mental and physical feats. In the evenings, we also threw incredible dinners and after-parties including a "Half Moon Party" on a beach, complete with glow-in-the-dark paint and costumes for all attendees with surreal entertainment flown in from around the continent.
