C A S E S T U D I E S But for you, the dreamers, the visionaries, the architects of our experiences, those little details make a big difference . Toscano Consultants, based in Markham, ON, first brought the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario to London in 2015 and will be returning in 2019. For Toscano, London made sense for her organization and her 200 delegates on a number of different levels. "First of all, we move around the province and I was looking to go west. We also noticed that London has a very good healthcare community and large hospitals and we could pull delegates from Windsor, Niagara and Toronto." With those parameters in mind, the group chose the Four Points by Sheraton London as the venue offered a great price and the facilities were exactly what Toscano needed. "Our delegates have to pay for their own accommodation, so the city was affordable and we got a great response from nurses outside of London." Toscano notes that many of her delegates usually bring their family and make a mini-holiday out of the conference, and the city had plenty to offer families in entertainment and dining. "The city is big enough to provide anything you need, but it's small enough that you don't feel overwhelmed," she says. Toscano appreciated the help she received from Karen Dowhan, business development manager, Greater Toronto Area for Tourism London. "She helped with the site selection, handled our RFP process and arranged a site visit. She also acted as a sounding board for our committee and offered maps, shopping guides and even discount coupons for our group." In hindsight, while Toscano says "it's not a destination that leaps off the map, it really makes sense for some groups and the city has a lot going for it. Don't overlook it."
