42 | Ignitemag.ca | November | December 2018 " International planners experience world-class incentive destinations in our own backyard by Melaya Horsten CANADA IN THE SPOTLIGHT T here is something so refreshing when you experience a desti- nation from a new perspective. The annual Incentive Canada program is designed to do just that. It is an opportunity for planners from North America and Europe to discover Canada as the ideal destination for their next incentive program. While many may have come with preconceived ideas of what the Canadian experience might deliver: from our classic wild landscapes to our friendly warm culture, the goal of the program this year was to reveal that Canadian destinations have a lot more to offer than our global stereotypes. This year, Montreal and Mont-Tremblant hosted the four-day program, providing the perfect example of what an incentive group can really expect across the country: a stunning, sophisticated centre for culinary, creative and cultural excellence, quite literally on the edge of wilderness! The experience started in Old Montreal with Notre-Dame Basilica's AURA, where the stunning ingenuity of light and projection mapping against the historic backdrop of the old church set the stage for all the wonders the city has to offer. I met partners from across Canada and learned so much as to what they had to offer. We don't often think about Canada as an exotic destination but the country is vast and offers many different experiences. I was so inspired by experiences I learned about during Incentive Canada that my husband and I are now training for our scuba trip we are planning in Arctic Circle in two years!" — Yoko Heukels, CMP, Meeting Element, Fort Washington, MD FromMontreal, the grouptookascenic drivetoMont-Tremblant, apicturesquemountain resorttownwithalively pedestrianvillage atitscore.
