Towards the close, both Kay and Goldstein say they favour engaging
approaches that allow attendees to reenergize and relax. Recommendations
here include video productions (featuring company execs, customers,
employees) and presentations in tech-enhanced interactive formats mod-
elled after game shows, carpool karaoke, video games and the like.
Schedule an awards gala or prize handouts, suggests
Bonner. "I've started giving away a lot of prizing and I
fi nd that really does still work. People want to get those
airline tickets, hotel stays and Visa gift cards."
Finally, whether it's a lunch, cocktail hour or a full-on after
party, closing with a social gathering allows attendees to pro-
cess, network and decompress—and the good vibes could also
encourage them to sign up for next year. Goldstein says, "Just
the follow-up for people to talk, I think, is really important after
a conference."
