FRUITFUL DISCUSSIONS
The Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners
(CanSPEP) Lemonade Stand—a series of member-
hosted Zoom phone chats—has become a go-to for
industry folks looking for support and education during
the pandemic.
Generally speaking, Monday's theme is Find your
Blessings, Wednesdays focus on education and
professional development and Fridays are a check-in
for members only.
"The feedback has been fantastic," says Sue Mercer,
principal of Step In Marketing & Event Solutions, based
in Toronto, and this year's vice-president of marketing
for CanSPEP. "CanSPEP is a unique community: while
we're direct competitors, it doesn't feel that way. We all
have different things to learn from each other."
CanSPEP is committed to continuing the series through
May, with the possibility of extending it further.

IN-FLIGHT FEELS
When the pandemic grounded fl ights,
airlines were left with large amounts of
unused food. Not wanting it to go to waste,
Sunwing partnered with Canada's largest
food rescue organization, Second Harvest—
who recover nutritious, unsold food and
redistribute it to various social service
organizations—donating more than 46,000
meals to 17 communities across the
country. Also working with Second Harvest,
Air Canada and the Air Canada Foundation
donated 14,118 kg of food items, the
equivalent of almost 31,000 meals.

The Ignite team has been inspired by all our colleagues who have sought to better
themselves professionally and personally during this time of upheaval. We've
compiled a video of our endeavours (seems a lot of us wanted to better our dogs
too!), as well as a resource page of recipes and links that we've found useful.
