62 IGNITE CONVENTION CENTRE REPORT One constant architectural detail in all new builds and renovations is the use of glass walls to allow the maximum amount of sunshine and natural light into function space. With walls of glass, the outside scenery becomes part of the event experience. The Vancouver Convention Centre led the way (of course, Coal Harbour and the mountains serve as a creative inspiration) and now almost every new build, such as the Ottawa Convention Centre, the PEI Conven- tion Centre and the new Halifax Convention Centre, feature floor-to-ceiling glass in some part of the design, either in pre-function and/ or meeting space. With new infrastructure coming on the market and renovations currently underway, event planners will have the luxury of choice for stunning modern space to showcase meetings and conferences.
