42 | Ignitemag.ca | November | December 2015 at your fingertips The flexibility of this new wearable presentation technology lets your imagination take flight by Laura Bickle The podium and PowerPoint may be things of the past if MUV Interactive's BIRD presentation technology has anything to do with it. BIRD is a ring-like device that transforms any surface (blackboard, wall, table, floor, etc.) into a multi-touch interface. Here's how it works: After a one-time installation of software, content from a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone is projected onto a surface (screen, table, LCD display). Wearing the device, users control digital content—they can start videos, connect to the Internet, draw and manipulate images—from up to 100 feet away. "It's very intuitive and easy to use," says Daniel Star, vice- president of business development for MUV Interactive. "Presenters can roam the room and up to ten people wearing the devices can interact with the same content at the same time." Star says 15,000 units have already been sold to customers including Ford Motors and several universities. BIRD will be available to retail customers this Spring. Suggested retail price: $349; pre order price: $249 muvinteractive.com
