Artist Rendering of new Sunset Beach at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess S cottsdale's newest museum offers a true experience and appreciation of history, from the earliest pros- pectors searching for gold to the cowboys that heralded the future of the American West. Designed with Western motifs throughout, playful wagon wheels hang from the ceiling and greet visi- tors in the expansive red cedar foyer, one of five event spaces within the museum. Groups can buy out the fa- cility and wander the exhibits (staffed by docents), the sculptural gardens and in-house theatre, where seating can be retracted into the exterior walls. By next summer, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess will have a brand new pool area called Sunset Beach, com- plete with 9,000 sq. ft. of imported Floridian white sand and an adjacent 18,000-sq.-ft. terrace with multi-level areas to accommodate stages for entertainment or re- ceptions. An additional 102 guestrooms, including three luxury suites, are being built and will be ready next year.
